Reigning champions VG Bayside Blazers have officially confirmed their participation in the 2026 Kings of the Courts Basketball Tournament as they prepare to defend their title against some of the region’s top teams.
The tournament, hosted by Steve Parillon, will run from today June 2 to June 7, 2026 at the Multipurpose Sports Complex in Road Town and will feature a $30,000 prize purse, with an additional $5,000 allocated to charity.
The Virgin Gorda-based squad will return with a 10-player roster, blending experienced talent with several new additions as they seek back-to-back titles.
Team Manager and Owner Julian Willock said the coaching staff has made strategic adjustments to strengthen the squad ahead of the highly anticipated tournament.
Half of the roster hails from Virgin Gorda, including Shamarr George, Kimani T. Stevens, Randy M. George and Killven M. Samuel.
The team will once again be led by Head Coach Trevor ‘West’ Stevens, alongside Assistant Coach Derrick Varlack. The duo guided the Bayside Blazers to the 2025 Kings of the Courts championship and will be aiming to repeat that success this year.
Several key players from last year’s championship-winning team are returning, including Ronald Delph, while seasoned players Adrian Joseph and Anthony Smith are also back after previously representing the Blazers in St. Maarten competitions.
New additions to the roster include Alante M. Fenner, Arnold M. Louis and Nicholas D. J. Faust.
Willock said the team remains focused and motivated but understands the level of competition expected throughout the tournament.
“We are ready to win but will never take the competition for granted as there are some strong teams in the tournament including Tortola, the two teams from the USVI, St. Croix and St. Thomas, along with the Dominican Republic team,” he stated.
Willock also expressed gratitude to the team’s sponsors, noting that their support continues to play a critical role in the development and success of the programme.
“We could not have done it without them. We remain humbled by their support,” he added.
